Results of the Special Congregational Meeting on Sunday, May 16th, 2010
On Sunday, May 16th, 2010, SOV members passed a second vote to officially end the church's affiliation with the ELCA. The vote passed by a 97% percent majority (251 for and 9 against, and 3 blank ballots). This vote fulfills the constitutional requirement: to sever ties with the ELCA requires two votes that are 90 days apart, each passing with at least a two-thirds majority. The first vote was held on Sunday, January 31st, 2010, and passed with a 91% majority. At the January meeting, SOV members also voted to form a new relationship with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC).
SOV is excited to be in partnership with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC). LCMC describes its mission in this way: "LCMC has one primary mission: that of sharing the life-giving Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are working together to fulfill Christ's Great Commission to go and make disciples of all nations." Visit the LCMC website by clicking here.
