Small Groups

Shepherd of the Valley is committed to becoming a church of small groups.  We believe that Biblical community begins when a person connects with Christ and expands as they connect with one another.

Several opportunities exist for you to join one of our existing groups or starting your own.

Adult Small Groups

These adult groups meet regularly to study God's Word, pray for one another, and care for one another.  They meet in homes, at church, and area restaurants.  Currently, there are more that 40 groups available.  For more information contact Kristin Lagus.

Task Group Schedules

These groups are open to both Youth and Adults.  They serve the community by performing various tasks needed by the congregation such as Ushering, Greeting, Serving Communion, etc.  For more information contact Jill Wurm.

Support Groups

These adult groups are formed to meet the needs of special audiences.  Examples of this kind of group are; a Support Group for Parents with Special Needs Children, Divorce Support, Grief Group for individuals who have experienced a loss, and a Twelve-Step Group for people who are living with an addiction.  Contact Dick Wagenknecht for more information.

Youth Small Groups (Grades 9 -12)

Youth small groups meet weekly during the school year from October through April.  A group consists of two - twelve youth and one or more caring adults.  They discuss questions, and share life, faith, hopes, and dreams in the context of a Christian Community.  For more information contact Maria Paulsen.  Small Group Check-In.

Confirmation Groups (Grades 7-9)

Confirmation students in grades 7 to 9 meet weekly in a small group setting. The groups are designed to be a place where students grow in their faith by studying God's Word, praying together and caring for one another.  For more information contact Kim Schmidt.
