Background
Kristin Tjornehoj is an Assistant Professor at UW-River Falls where
she conducts the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Orchestra and teaches
related courses. She holds a BA and BM from Luther College in Decorah,
IO., a Master degree in performance from the University of Minnesota,
and a Doctoral degree from the University of Minnesota. Ms. Tjornehoj
is active as a guest conductor, lecturer and performer. This year she
conducted the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra, the College Band Directors
National Association honors band and the Missota Honor Festival (MN).
As a lecturer, Ms. Tjornehoj presented at the Wisconsin Music
Educators Conference: CONDUCTING-SELF ASSESSMENT, EVALUATION, AND
GROWTH. Ms. Tjornehoj is the regional Vice President for the Wisconsin
School Music Educators Association, and has just started a mentorship
program for new teachers. During the summer, Ms. Tjornehoj is the
conductor at the Indianhead Arts Music Camp in Shell Lake, WI. She has
participated in many music festivals and is a frequent performer on
saxophone and piano. Ms. Tjornehoj is active in church music, and is
currently music director at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in
Lakeland, MN.
